Dark Ambient | Experimental | Breakbeat | Electronic Music

Never afraid to explore new territory, Theta State creates dark ambient experimental breakbeats - a fusion of hip hop, funk, drum and bass, breaks, industrial, ambient, and experimental electronic music. Contemplation, creativity, and meditation produce electrical waves in the brain causing what is known as Theta State. Pursuing the musical embodiment of this phenomenon, Craig Maslowski has made music running the gamut from mellow ambient pieces to furious breaks. Picking up his first instrument in 1991, he studied music theory and metal guitar under Ray Holroyd of 12 Ton Method and Needleye fame. In 2000, he entered the realm of free form electronic music with projects such as lysdexic, Prayer Chair, and The Narcoleptic Anarchists. He was also a member of the now-defunct Infinite Sector, a collective of experimental electronic musicians from around the world. Utilizing both software and custom-made instruments, Theta State began recording his debut album in 2007. Subversive Culture Records is slated to the first Theta State album in 2008/2009.  For previews from the upcoming album and the debut single “Lisa’s Xmas Mix 2007,” visit the discography.
